Last January Lenovo, a Chinese company who bought IBM's PC Division back in 2005, stated an interest in Blackberry as a takeover target. But would the Canadian Government allow that to happen - I don't think so. Last week, founder Mike Lazaridis and Blackberry co-founder Doug Fregin (friends since grade 5 who founded Blackberry in 1984) announced their hiring of Goldman Sachs to help explore a bid. That combination with money if they can secure it, is a better bet. Then there are the several enterprises like Google and SAP (how about newly private Dell?) who are sniffing around. My bet is still on Prem Watsa and Fairfax to pull this off and keep Blackberry whole and Canadian - eh!
