AT&T ends $39bn bid for T-Mobile USA - December 19, 2011:A combination of AT&T and T-Mobile USA would have become the biggest in the US. US telecoms giant AT&T has said it will not pursue its $39bn bid to
buy T-Mobile USA after running into fierce government objections. AT&T said the actions of the government to block the deal do not change the problems faced by the mobile phone industry. It says it still requires more airwaves to expand. If AT&T had bought T-Mobile USA from Deutsche Telekom, it would have become
the US's largest cellphone company.

Drives Most Internet Traffic for U.S. Businesses in September 2011;
Competition Among Business Internet Service Providers
(ISPs) Increases as Size of Business Decreases: RESTON, VA,
November 14, 2011 – comScore, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCOR), a leader in
measuring the digital world, today released an analysis of Internet Service
Provider (ISP) market share within businesses across the United States. Among
its findings, the study showed AT&T leading the U.S. business ISP market
with 20 percent of all browser-based Internet page views (i.e. traffic) in
September 2011, followed by Verizon with a 12-percent share of the market.
CenturyLink, which merged with Qwest in April 2011, ranked as the third largest
business ISP at 7 percent share. The five largest business ISPs drove nearly 50
percent of business Internet traffic across the U.S....report

In its second quarter as a public company, LinkedIn posted Q3
earnings today [November 4th 2011]. Revenue for the
third quarter was $139.5 million, up 126 percent from the third quarter in 2010.
GAAP Net loss for the third quarter was $1.6 million (or a loss of $0.02 per
share), compared to net income of $4 million for the third quarter of 2010;
Non-GAAP net income for the third quarter was $6.6 million (or $0.06 per
share), compared to $6 million for the third quarter of 2010. Analysts expected
LinkedIn to break even on an earnings on a per share basis with revenue expected
to come in at $128 million...more

Starbucks rolls out smart
phone payments in Canada - Globe and Mail Update November 8th 2011:
Global coffee giant Starbucks Corp. SBUX-Q is betting that by
transforming shoppers' phones into mobile wallets, it will get consumers to
splurge more and return more often. Starbucks Corp wants to cash in on one of
its customers' addictions - to their smart phones - to profit even more from
their other addiction - to java. On Tuesday, the giant chain will break new
ground in Canada in offering mobile payment, starting from an iPhone and, in the
coming months, Android and BlackBerry devices. It's betting that by transforming
shoppers' phones into mobile wallets, it will get consumers to splurge more -
and return more often. "Many of our customers leave home without a wallet, but
almost never leave home without their phone," said Adam Brotman, senior

Google and Apple Gain Ground in Smartphone Market
RESTON, VA, May 6, 2011 – comScore, Inc.
(NASDAQ: SCOR), a leader in measuring the digital world, today released data
from the comScore MobiLens
service, reporting key trends in the U.S. mobile phone industry during the three
month average period ending March 2011. The study surveyed more than 30,000 U.S.
mobile subscribers and found Samsung to be the top handset manufacturer overall
with 24.5 percent market share. Google Android led among smartphone platforms
with 34.7 percent market share.
